Exeter’s Environment and Sustainability Institute (ESI) formally launched

SML-Exeter-ESI-launchThe Environment and Sustainability Institute (ESI) at the University of Exeter was formally launched on 23 April 2013, six months since it began operations.


Led by Professor Kevin J Gaston, this £30-million environmental research institute leads interdisciplinary research on environmental change, striving to enhance the quality of people’s lives by way of improving human-nature relationship. Its research spans three interrelated themes:

  • Clean technologies
  • Natural environment
  • Social science and sustainability
