In COP28 in Dubai, negotiators of nearly 200 countries are battling to phase-out fossil fuels with only one day to go of the UN Climate change Conference.
But the phase-out of fossil fuels is not enough.
The phase-out of fossil fuels coupled by us working with Mother Nature is required if we want to prevent the climate breakdown.
“Even if we phase out all fossil fuels, if we do not get involved in nature, [the destruction of natural landscapes and habitats] can make us lose what we all have agreed on the safe future for humanity on Earth – that is, to stay within the 1.5C limit,” Johan Rockström, the director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research. “It’s really decisive, that we get it right on nature.”
Without the carbon sinks, such as forests, wetlands and peatlands, the excess carbon dioxide in the atmosphere would increase even faster, he said.
Think global, act local, and save the planet.

Thank-you for keeping us updated on COP28. I think it’s strange that we hear so little reporting about it on our news stations. The purpose of this event is so important for our planet and our own survival, but it seems most of the news outlets don’t think so…?

Agreed. It is quite frustrating that we focus solely on eliminating fossil fuels but we need to learn how to live/work with nature, which means less waste in every aspect of life, in addition to keeping some spaces free of development. I wish this was talked about more. Thanks for sharing.
