England’s greenest football club in an attempt on Guinness World Record with Count Us In

Tottenham Hotspur football club and Count Us In have launched a historic Guinness World Record attempt to combat climate change in a month from 18 June to 17 July 2021.

This is how fans enter the contest, Take a step and help set a world record. In Count Us In’s online platform dedicated to Tottenham Hotspur page, the supporters should take a step out of these:

Food: Cut food waste, Eat more plants, Eat seasonal
Home: Get some solar, Switch your energy, Insulate your home, Dial it down
Lifestyle: Green your money, Repair and re-use, Wear clothes to last
Voice: Speak up at work, Talk to friends, Tell your politicians
Transport: Fly less, Drive electric, Walk and cycle more

While fighting climate change with a small step, they enter a prize draw to win a personalised 2021-22 Nike Home shirt, made from recycled plastic bottles.

To break the Guinness World Record, 140,001 people would have to take at least one step of 16 steps advocated by Count Us In by 17 July 2021.

In the next decade, Count Us In will mobilize 1 billion people in combatting climate change. Tottenham Hotspurs is a founding partner of this initiative.

UN Ambassador on an electric paramotor

Meanwhile, UN Ambassador for Convention on Migratory Species and Founder of Conservation Without Borders Sacha Dench started The Round Britain Climate Challenge from Loch Lomond, Scotland, on an electric paramotor today.

On her own, she tries to break a world record, aspiring to become the first and fastest circumnavigation of mainland Britain on an electric paramotor.

During her six-week, 3000 miles plus journey, Sacha will be landing to meet people – those from industry, innovator, entrepreneurs, local heroes, communities, schools, farmers and individuals – to talk about climate change. Moreover, she believes that an electric paramotor should be used for the first time in a long journey like this.

“I want to capture the imaginations of the young and old, rural and urban, and focus on answers to the climate crisis – not problems – and encourage everyone to get involved,” Sacha says. “Just one person pledging to take an action through Count Us In will help us get that Guinness World Record!”

One-stop in her expedition is the Tottenham Hotspur Training Centre in Enfield, London, which is a facility designed with environmental sustainability in mind. It is complete with wildlife ponds, bug hotels, bat houses, a wildflower meadow and an organic kitchen garden.

Minimising environmental effects while maximising sustainability credentials, Tottenham Hotspur designs its activities across all Club operations.

Following a study carried out by BBC Sport and the UN-backed Sport Positive Summit, Spurs were named the English Premier League’s greenest club earlier this year.

The Tottenham Hotspur Club is a signatory of the UN Sports for Climate Action Framework, demonstrating its commitment to playing its part to ensure the sports sector is on the path to a low-carbon future, in line with the aims of the Paris Agreement.
