Best wishes for 2022, marked with 12 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) out of 17!

By Asitha Jayawardena

12 out of 17 SDGs are used in wishing best wishes for the year 2022

In September 2015, 193 member states of the United Nations put forward a plan, called “Agenda 2030”, for achieving a better future for all. Over the next 15 years, it laid a path of ending extreme poverty, battling inequalities and injustice, and protecting our planet.

In 2022, the 15-year goals have reached halfway so 12 out of the 17 goals have been chosen for the 12 months (Please note that the goal number is at the beginning):

  1. 1 No poverty
  2. 2 Zero hunger
  3. 3 Good health and wellbeing
  4. 4 Quality education
  5. 5 Gender equality

  1. I have the 17 Sustainable Development Goals on my office wall. Sometimes I get frustrated as it feels like they are fantasy goals that cannot be reached, but I don’t know what else to do, except to try and make some version of them reality. I have drafted my own personal action goals and focused pursuits. Ultimately, I boiled it down to starting with “Goal 11. Sustainable Cities & Communities”, it seems the most logical place for one person to start to make a difference. My small city has made no attempts to address climate change and acts as if only the nearby larger cities need to do something about it. I’m going to have to go outside my comfort zone as an introvert to change that. That is my goal for 2022.
